Notice on Holding the 2024 Wuqing District Science Popularization Photography Competition

In order to deepen the study and implementation of Xi Jinping socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the important discourse of the General Secretary Xi Jinping on scientific popularization and scientific quality construction, stimulate the vitality of cultural innovation and creation of the whole people, through the combination of photography and science popularization, promote the combination of science popularization and cultural art, promote the participation of cultural and artistic workers and the general public in understanding science popularization, promote the popularization of scientific knowledge, and promote the formation of a good atmosphere of "emphasizing science, loving science, learning science, and using science" in the whole society, the Wuqing District Association for Science and Technology has decided to carry out the 2024 Photography Competition activity throughout the region. There are no age, identity, or professional restrictions for this competition, and photography enthusiasts are welcome to sign up and participate.
Fifth: Award settings
This photography competition has four awards, including 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, and 10 excellent prizes. All contestants who pass the selection and win awards will be commended and awarded a certificate of honor by the organizer.
Sixth: Scope of Works
The works of the popular science photography competition should revolve around the work theme of "focusing on scientific phenomena, recording scientific activities, showcasing technological achievements, and praising technological figures", and be created and submitted.
Focus on scientific phenomena. Focusing on reflecting macroscopic material world scientific phenomena such as the Earth, galaxies, universe, and space, as well as microscopic material world scientific phenomena such as electrons, protons, neutrons, and reflecting natural phenomena such as animals and plants. Using photography as an artistic means to showcase the visual beauty of scientific phenomena, bringing the public closer to science, enhancing their understanding of scientific phenomena, disseminating scientific knowledge, and stimulating their exploration and research of magical scientific phenomena.
Record scientific activities. Record the process of people exploring the mysteries of science and promoting social and technological progress, including the generation, development, dissemination, popularization and other activities of scientific knowledge, providing inspiration and reference for scientific discovery, technological invention, and social progress, guiding the public to establish a social trend of seeking truth, being pragmatic, daring to explore, and pursuing truth.
Demonstrate scientific and technological achievements. Centered around technological self-reliance and self-improvement, through the unique forms of photography, this exhibition showcases the development of science and technology in China's new era over the past decade and the progress of science and technology. It enhances the public's confidence and determination to build a world science and technology powerhouse, bravely shoulder heavy responsibilities, climb new heights, and work together to build the Chinese Dream.
Praise Science and technology figures. Praise scientists, technology workers, and technology figures who have made outstanding contributions to the national science and technology industry and popular science work through their photographic works. By using photography as a means of expression, tell the patriotic struggle stories of science and technology workers, praise the noble sentiments of scientists in serving the country through science and technology, and create a good social atmosphere in the entire region to learn from scientists, respect scientists, and be grateful to them.
Seventh: Competition rules
1.The entries must be original works, and participants are allowed to make slight adjustments to the tone and color of the photos, as well as composition and cropping, but the original images cannot be modified. The content of the work must be authentic, in line with the theme of the competition, and artistically showcase technological achievements and science in daily life. Single or group photos can be used (no more than 9 photos can be edited in order), and the photo format is unified in JPEG format without limiting shooting equipment. The original file size is not less than 3M.
2.Participants are required to retain the original information and files of the images, and any matters related to portrait rights in their works shall be the responsibility of the participants.
3.Participants must indicate the author, name of the work, shooting time, location, event description, mailing address, contact phone number, email, and other information. Images can be accompanied by a text explanation of no more than 150 words.
4.All entries will be submitted in electronic format (can be sent via email or copied to the organizer).
5.Works selection: In order to ensure fairness and impartiality in the selection of works for this competition, photography experts will be invited to form a review committee, responsible for selecting the collected works.
