Tianjin Wuqing District’s Fundamental State
Harking back to the Western Han Dynasty, Wuqing was known as Quanzhou or Yongyang and obtained its current name in the incipient year under the reign of Tianbao in Tang Dynasty. In June, 2000, it removed the status as a county and was upgraded to a district. Covering a land area of 1,574 square kilometers, the district has 5 blocks and 24 towns with a permanent resident population of 1.2 million. It has long been honored‘aisle of Beijing and Tianjin’ and ‘bright pearl of Beijing and Tianjin’. It is development axis for Beijing and Tianjin, a major nodal point for core functional zone in the center area, and a bridgehead of Tianjin to extend development to the capital of Beijing.
In recent years, Wuqing District has been conducting in-depth learning and implementation of socialistic ideology featuring Chinese characteristics in the new era under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, carefully putting into force decisions and deployment by the Party Central Committee, State Council, Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, seeking for program in stability, performing new development concepts, actively seizing upon the major strategic opportunities of synergy development in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and quickening promotion of high-quality development. It shows profound historical and cultural deposits. After Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal was put through during Sui and Tang Dynasties, the northern Canal of Wuqing, the gullet section of the Great Canal, showed booming business in water transport that led to unprecedented development and prosperity in Wuqing and helped accumulate the profound Canal culture in here. The northern section of Wuqing is 20 kilometers away from the fifth ring in the southeastern part of Beijing, and its downtown is 71 kilometers from the city proper of Beijing. It is 90 kilometers from the Capital International Airport, 45 kilometers from the Capital Second International Airport, 25 kilometers from downtown Tianjin, 35 kilometers from Tianjin Binhai International Airport and 71 kilometers from Tianjin Port. Tongzhou-Wuqing-Langfang outskirt railway is incorporated to the schedule for transportation integration for synergy development in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway opens its sole pit stop in here with 25 departures on the daily basis. It has grabbed the objective of half-an-hour ‘urbanization’ with Beijing and Tianjin. The district has 4 grade-one watercourses covering the norther Canal, and 7 grade-two watercourses covering Longbei New River and is about to open two ecological reservoirs namely Matai JInquan Lake and Xiazhuzhuang Nanhu Lake. Dahuangbao Wetland Natural Reserve Area covering a total area of 104.6 square kilometers is a municipal natural reserve of Tianjin and the ten-thousand-mu Northern Tianjin Forest Park is one of the most major ecological preservation forest area in Tianjin. Since 2014, it has been vigorously implementing ‘Beautiful Wuqing No. One Project’ by launching initiatives featuring ‘four clearance and one forestation’ namely clear air, clear rivercourse, clear community, clear village and forestation’. An accumulative input of 4 billion Yuan throughout the district has been input and both the rural and urban ecological environment has witnessed evident improvement. The district sees a coverage rate of forest attaining 38.5% and its forestation coverage rate of built-up area has reached 37.66%. a batch of delicate works on green landscape covering the 5700-mu Greenery Theme Park, the Northern Canal Outskirt Park and so forth have been built up that demonstrate the magnificent effects of ecological landscape. Over 1000 new Beijing programs are introduced each year, and an array of merited programs covering China Academy of Railway Sciences, TCT, China Telecom Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Data Center get settled.
