Eastern Economic Forum 2019 Releases Business Programme Architecture
The fifth Eastern Economic Forum will take place in Vladivostok from September 4 to 6.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev said that discussions this year would focus on ensuring economic growth of up to 6 percent per year in the Far East.“At present,economic growth in the Far East Federal District is over 4%,which is twice that of the average Russian indicators,but still far from 6%”,he said.
He continued,“We’ll not only be taking a look at economic indicators and measures for the social development of the region:everything that should improve the quality of life to a level higher than the average Russian level.We need to understand how to improve the education system in the Far East as well as what goals have been set in road construction,housing,and healthcare.”
The Forum’s business programme has been split into four tracks.
The‘New Solutions to Accelerate Economic Growth’track will be devoted to a discussion of the mechanisms that should ensure increased growth rates in the Far East economy in the period until 2025 as well as improvements in the quality of life of local residents.
The‘Creating Conditions for Business’track will feature discussions on ways to support investors,including the availability of financial services,the development of transport infrastructure,the transition to project financing in construction,and the protection of investors’rights.
The‘Far East and the Asia-Pacific Region:Creating Opportunities for Cooperation’track will focus on the Far East’s integration into the economies of APR countries,the development of the Northern Sea Route,the environment,international scientific and technical cooperation,and customs administration.
The‘New Solutions for Improving the Quality of Life’track will be dedicated to the theme of social development in the Far East.Participants will discuss such issues as healthcare,education,housing and utilities,the urban environment as well as mechanisms to improve the labour market in the Far East.
In addition,the programme will feature Russia–China,Russia–Japan,Russia–India,Russia–ASEAN,and Russia–South Korea cross-country business dialogues during which representatives of the business community will discuss practical cooperation issues.
The Eastern Economic Forum also plans to hold a youth education day during which leading experts and guests of the EEF will give lectures for students from Far Eastern Federal University.
Events to be held on the sidelines of the EEF 2019 include the Russian-Chinese Media Forum,the Intergovernmental Russia–Singapore High-Level Commission,and the Conference on the Common Economic Space from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.Presentations will also be held about the investment potential of Far East regions along with opening ceremonies for new enterprises in the Far East.
