Breaking News! The Wuqing Development Area Signs the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Synthetic Biomanufacturing Industry Collaborative Development Partner Park Cooperation Plan
On January 10th, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Synthetic Biomanufacturing Industry Collaborative Innovation and Development Work Promotion Meeting was held in Beijing. At the meeting, six parks representing partner parks from the three regions of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, namely the Beijing Future Science City, the Core Area of Agricultural Zhongguancun, the Tianjin Port Free Trade Area, the Wuqing Development Area in Tianjin, the Beidaihe New Area in Qinhuangdao, and the Shijiazhuang International Biomedical Park, jointly signed the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Synthetic Biomanufacturing Industry Collaborative Development Partner Park Cooperation Plan. The plan aims to strengthen the cooperation and joint construction of professional parks in the three regions of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, promote coordinated development, facilitate the sharing of resources, technological research and development, and application of achievements among universities, scientific research institutions, and corporate entities in the three regions, accelerate the division of labor and cooperation and the flow of elements between regions, enhance the level of business environment services and comprehensive carrying capacity of park-to-park cooperation, and ensure the implementation of key projects.
In accordance with the plan, the six parks will adhere to the principles of "mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, complementary advantages, resource sharing, standardized operations, and compliance with laws and regulations." They will jointly establish a communication and consultation mechanism for partner parks and a shared research platform mechanism. They will also conduct joint research on synthetic biomanufacturing technologies and policies related to synthetic biomanufacturing, promote the introduction of high-end elements in synthetic biomanufacturing, and create a synthetic biomanufacturing industry ecosystem.
The biopharmaceutical industry is one of the dominant industries in the Wuqing Development Area. In recent years, the park has effectively utilized its advantages in scientific and educational resources, industrial foundations, platform support, and talent aggregation to continuously promote the high-quality development of the biopharmaceutical industry. It has formed three major development directions: synthetic biomanufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, and medical devices, and has gathered nearly 300 biopharmaceutical companies. It has made the list of the top 100 national biopharmaceutical parks for five consecutive years and ranked 27th in 2024.
In the field of synthetic biomanufacturing, the Wuqing Development Area relies on the policy advantages of the national economic and technological development Area, the national high-tech industrial park, and the core area of the Tianjin National Innovation Demonstration Area. It also benefits from the exclusive policies of the Wuqing Beijing-Tianjin Industrial New City, which rewards and supports platform construction, research and development, and patents in the field of synthetic biomanufacturing. The Area is vigorously promoting the orderly and rapid development of the synthetic biomanufacturing industry. Currently, three special funds for synthetic biomanufacturing have been established, with three more in the process of being set up, reaching a fund scale of 1 billion yuan and investing in more than ten projects. It has built an International Bioengineering Center, Youda Extraordinary Biopharmaceutical Park, and a medical device park that connect research and development to the market end, providing equipment, funding, and market service guarantees for the transformation of university research results. At the same time, relying on existing chain main enterprises in the park, such as the North China University of Chemical Technology Industry-University-Research Base, Tianjin University Synthetic Biology Frontier Institute, Novogene, Gold Keys Medical, and En+ Group, it has cultivated a large number of professional talents in the synthetic biomanufacturing industry and incubated and transformed dozens of companies engaged in gene sequencing, gene editing, gene synthesis, strain screening, and industrial fermentation-related fields, forming a sound synthetic biomanufacturing industry ecosystem. In the future, the Wuqing Development Area will continue to adhere to collaborative innovation and open cooperation, and work hand in hand with partner parks to promote the high-quality development of the synthetic biomanufacturing industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
