Wuqing Development Zone steadily promotes building of"model rivers and lakes"
Central Lake in Wuqing Development Zone covers an area of 700 acres with a water area stretching 350 acres and an average water depth at 6 meters.Since full implementation of the river chief system in 2017,the River and Lake Directors Office in Wuqing Development Zone has staunchly established the concept of"green water and green mountains amount to great wealth",adhered to conforming management of water and banks,remedied chaos in rivers and lakes,and achieved management and protection of rivers and lakes.Significant results have been achieved.In 2020,Central Lake was rated as"Most Glamorous River and Lake"in Wuqing District.With commencement of building"model rivers and lakes"in 2021,Wuqing Development Zone is carrying out governance for the Central Lake with focus centered on protecting water resources,preventing water pollution,improving water environment,and restoring water ecology and efforts laid on creation of a beautiful picture marked by"water in the city,city surrounded by green land,and people in the scenery".
Continuously improved management mechanism with concerted efforts
To strengthen daily management of the Central Lake,the Wuqing Development Zone River and Lakes Office established the Central Lake Management Office that is mainly responsible for management and maintenance of the lake’s supporting facilities and equipment,daily management of the lake’s security and cleaning,and inspection and cleaning of its water surface and shoreline.Since its commencement,more than 830 bags of various types of garbage and floating objects have been grubbed,more than 360 square meters of viewing platform wooden plank roads have been repaired,more than 1,000 square meters of road square stone materials have been repaired,and more than 600 square meters of viewing platform wooden plank roads and painting and maintenance of 7 bridge decks and railing have been completed.Other than improving water quality,it also attempts to enhance beautification of the environment,and continues to make the Central Lake a perfect place for citizens to enjoy leisure,go for entertainment,and appreciate flowers.
The central lake has a large water surface area with a shoreline at nearly 6 kilometers in length.In order to increase inspection and cleaning efforts of the central lake,and on ground of the original"three-level inspection and four-season cleaning",security and cleaning are also incorporated to management of the river chief system.Round-the-clock,full-coverage inspection and cleaning on the lake is carried out.On the basis of patrolling and protecting of facilities,security personnel are responsible for patrolling its shoreline.Other than cleaning the lake area,they are also responsible for cleaning the water surface environment.By strengthening team building and improving management mechanism,the central lake inspection and cleaning has been further strengthened to ensure timely detection and cleaning so that the lake area is clean and uncontaminated.
Moreover,as fish abound in the central lake and the fecal debris deposited on the bottom of the lake causes the poor environment of the lake bottom,measures such as spraying disinfectants,algae inhibitors,and water purifiers are adopted to disinfect and purify the water bottom to further improve the underwater environment and build a‘a clean and purified swathe of water’.
Amplified input to continuously boost environment of the water
To further improve self-purification capacity of the water body,Wuqing Development Zone has been continuously enlarging its capital investment.To start with,it refers to construction of sponge city to build 9 fountains and 10 green plants on the water surface in the central lake.The green plants cover an area of more than 150 square meters and can effectively purify water quality.Second,it plants more than 10 acres of lotus.During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day"Double Festival",myriads people are attracted to it."The scattered fountains,all forms of green plants,and the tranquilly-blooming lotus flowers make people feel like they are in a painting against the crystal water of the lake.We frequent the lake and now the water is clearer and the scenery is more appealing."Alleged so by citizens.
Just as the citizens have put it,the water in the Central Lake is clearer and hence we got this appealing scene.In recent years,the Central Lake is commonly known a"Release Lake",as fish and turtles were often released here.Mortality rate of released fish was high that incurred damage on the water environment.With launching of the"special action to rectify illegal release of animals",the central lake imposed a total ban on release And through construction of"beautiful rivers and lakes",a series of control measures have been implemented,and water ecological environment has shown continuous improvement.Central lake today is beautiful with nestling of wild geese,egrets,and white swans waiting for the birds and a mesmerizing scene.
Roundly Strengthen River and Lake Protection with Concerted Efforts
To continuously improve construction of supporting facilities for the Central Lake and roundly strengthen protection and management of rivers and lakes,Wuqing Development Zone has established a working mechanism featuring"leadership of chief of the river,coordination among departments,and water governance with concerted efforts."To start with,it builds new access gates.As Central Lake has only one entry and exit gate with a diameter of only 30 cm that is far from meeting the needs of spring water replenishment and water body replacement.So the central lake’s water replenishment mainly depends on rainfall.Drainage proves harder during downpour in summer,as a new sluice with a diameter of 2 is built on the north side of the central lake.The meter\'s entrance and exit sluices are directly connected to the Xinxi River,adding more convenience to water supply and drainage and water body exchange and ensuring water quality of the central lake.Then,it plants landscape flowers.To further restore ecology of the central lake,coreopsis is planted on the wild flower flat that covers an area of more than 100 acres and is surrounded by the central lake and Xinxi River.The flowering period lasts more than 3 months.When blooming season arrives,chrysanthemums of various colors are in bloom,adding radiance to the central lake.
