Interview: Uganda's health minister praises China's measures to fight coronavirus

Robinah Nabbanja,Uganda\'s minister of state for health,on Sunday commended the prevention and control measures taken by China to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

"They have already identified some treatments and it\'s working, and there are those(patients)who have been treated and discharged after recovery,"Nabbanja told Xinhua, adding that she believes China has the capability to contain the outbreak from spreading.

She noted that China\'s isolation of suspected cases and curative care treatment methods are working well to contain the spread of the virus.

"They have banned public transport and public gathering. Those who are sick have been isolated and treated. That is a very positive move and is working well,"she said.

The minister said it is"unbelievable"that China can build a 1,000-bed hospital in a record 10 days to treat patients infected with the virus in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak,in central China\'s Hubei Province.

"It\'s highly commendable,"she said."If they can isolate the infected from those who are free from the virus, then that is a very positive move."

She said that her government has no plan to evacuate Ugandans currently in China,as Chinese authorities have put in place very robust preventative and control measures to combat the transmission and spread of the virus.
