In March 1991, Wuqing County held an expanded meeting of the Standing Committee. The meeting analyzed in detail the new situation faced by the county's reform and opening up, as well as economic and social development. It boldly proposed that Wuqing should take advantage of the national trend of further reform and opening up, utilize the strong geographical advantages and talent gathering advantages between Beijing and Tianjin, and build a development Area, striving to achieve faster and better economic development in Wuqing.
At that time, there were not many domestic development Areas, and no county or city level proposed the construction of development Areas. For Wuqing, the application work for the development Area is simply a "white paper" project. How to operate the approval process, one can only feel the stones and cross the river, think one step, report one step, and do one step.
The establishment of Wuqing Development Area has won strong support from relevant departments throughout the county. All departments have worked together and closely cooperated, and have done a lot of effective work in planning and work coordination.
After 9 months of hard work and communication, finally, on December 28, 1991, good news came.
The National Science and Technology Commission has officially approved the establishment of 26 national level development Areas in 25 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions across the country, and the Wuqing Development Area is the only national level development Area approved to be built on a county level.
From then, the Wuqing Development Area entered the stage of foundation preparation and construction, opening the most dazzling chapter in the history of Wuqing's development.
